Shakira Isabel Mebarak was born in Colombia, Barranquilla on February 2, 1977. She has a Lebanese father and Colombian mother, which both nations are honored in her music. She was able to write her own song at age 8, and her first record deal was when she was 13 years old. Shakira's third album was released in 1996, it is named "Pies Descalzos", the album sold more than 3 million copies. Her fourth album, named "Donde Estan Los Ladrones?", released in 1998 reached to the top of Billboard's Latin chart. In the year 2000 Shakira won her first Grammy Award for best Latin Pop Artist. In June of 2014 Shakira made one of the official songs for the 2014 World Cup Brazil, named "La La La", which sold more than 1 million copies, as she also did for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
